Michailidi - Demesticha

Rock, Traditional

The first ascent of the route “Michailidi - Demesticha” (V, 400m) was realized on 22-23/10/1966 by G. Michailidis - A. Demestichas with one bivouac and it was the first climb on Pano Psilo.

Its exact route is unknown, as there is no recorded evidence, but only an oral report by G. Michailidis. It probably leads to the summit of Pano Psilo following the northern ridge, to which one must avoid the large tower from the right or left. The easier option is from the left.

Its exact route is unknown, as there is no recorded evidence, but only an oral report by G. Michailidis that he climbed the north ridge. The north ridge starts through the northern gully and leads directly to the top of Pano Psilo. In the 90s, D. Karagiannis and G. Kotoula, without knowing the existence of the route, climbed the north ridge and at the end, near the top, they found an old nail. This is an important piece of evidence that confirms that the “Michailidi - Demesticha” follows the north ridge, but also the attempt by D. Karagiannis - G. Kotoula is considered to be its first repetition.
