Mavri - Zikopoulou

Rock, Traditional

The first ascent of the route "Mavri - Zikopoulou" (V+, 130m) was realized on 12/7/1997 by N. Mavris - F. Zikopoulou.

This route climbs up to successive dihedrals on the pillar which is located on the left side of the crack of the route "Miniskos", and avoids the overhangs on the left in order to finally reach a monolith.

In order to ascend the route a selection of nuts and cams, as well as pitons for the belays, are required. The 2nd and the 3rd belays are equipped with one piton each. The quality of the rock is good, with the exception of a zone of loose rock at the beginning of the 4th pitch.

In order to return you have the options of easily downclimbing (II) either towards the central gully or towards the foot of the route (II) and from that point abseil using a thread.

This climb was repeated for the first time on 9/8/1997 by N. Mavris - A. Asimakopoulos, who chose a direct variation (V+, 15m) of the first pitch.
