The route “Neanderthal” (III, 4, M6+, 175m) was completed on 5/4/2025 by A. Karapetakos - G. Papadoulis - O. Mitrou - P. Mastroperos.
After some attempts during three seasons and in a combined way from the first ascenders, the route finally completed by “unlocking” the 3rd and most difficult pitch, which leads to the upper and more easy part, and then to the summit ridge.
The route starts on a couloir left from the route “Pappous Matazo” and moves on the vertical rocky part on the centre of the wall.
The goal was the characteristic dihedral of the 3rd pitch, but the attempts were marked by route finding and the exposed traverses leading to it.
Inspiration for the name of the route was the figure of Panagiotis Mastroperos, who participated and encouraged the attempts.
