The first ascent of the route “Mad Max” (VII-, 70m) was realized on 5/5/1982 by D. Corres - D. Booth - T. Vassilopoulos.
The line moves to the rightmost part of the crag and starts to the left of the “Treis semine” route.
The 1st pitch (VII-, 35m) starts on a slab with holes, to the right of a dry tree, up to a hollow (dihedral). There is also the key to the route (VII-, 2 bolts). Then we move several meters to the left, until we reach a negative slot (V+). Then we move 2m to 3m further left to enter the dihedral (IV) of the neighboring route “Amstel” and then in an easier field to the belay (shared belay with “Amstel”, 2 bolts with a sling).
The 2nd pitch (IV, 15m) starts with a horizontal right traverse, up to a dihedral leading to a tree, under a large roof, where there is also the belay (2 bolts).
The 3rd pitch (VI, 30m) starts on a slab, straight above the belay, to catch the slot at the base of the roof. It follows a traverse to the left under the entire roof (V+/VI-) and at the end of it, we go straight up to a slab with a thin crack on the right (VI). We continue straight to a dihedral (VI) and then to a slab, which successively becomes easier and finally leads to the belay, in a rock hollow, where several other neighboring routes end (2 bolts with a sling).
A full set of nuts and a set of friends (up to Camalot #2) are needed to repeat the route. Maybe a few extra small and medium nuts would come in handy on the 3rd pitch.
The return can be made either with two rappels from the “Amstel” belays, or by hiking to the right, following the path along the ridge.
It is worth noting that the initial sketch of the route shows it to be two pitches long and on the 1st pitch, instead of continuing on the dihedral of “Amstel” until its 1st belay, it traverses earlier to the right, in a relatively easy field with blocks, until the dihedral which it leads to the belay under the roof. Due to high friction, most repeats are now done as described above, with the 1st pitch going to the “Amstel” belay and from there an additional short pitch, to the belay under the roof, thus adding a few extra meters to the route.
