Gkeka - Kottari

Rock, Traditional

The first ascent of the route “Gkeka - Kottari” (IV, 250m) was realized in 1976 by K. Gkeka - M. Kottaris.

The line is located on a section of the crag, to the left and lower than the “Botini - Spanoudi” area. This section is characterized by a triangular wall with a black line created by flowing water in the middle, in the center of which the newer “Paliotomaro” route runs. Access there is from a small settlement, approximately 1Km before Kryoneri.

This is one of the oldest routes in the crag and so far there is no known repetition of it, which is why there is no detailed description.

The necessary equipment for its repetition are a series of nuts, some friends and slings. Since its condition is not known, it is a good idea to add a hammer and some pitons to the equipment.

Note: A. Theodoropoulos in his guide book draws the line to follow the slab to the left and outside the triangular wall, while G. Aligiannis in his own guide book draws the line to follow the left edge of the triangular wall, noting that there are also 3 old pitons.
