Tymfi - Gefyri Tou Kokkori - Pyrgos Tou Gatou

Appo

Rock, Traditional

The first ascent of the route “Appo” (VI+, 75m) was realized by I. Moisidis - V. Tatsiramou - A. Danelas - G. Stathopoulos - K. Golias on Gatos’ Tower (Pyrgos tou gatou), which is located near Kokkoris’ bridge.

The line begins with a dihedral, which starts with an overhang, not very hard but quite dynamic, and then a fissure follows which, in the middle, gets harder, with a rather difficult passage (VI+). After that, a crack and then a slab lead to the ledge where the belay is found. The second pitch starts with a small chimney and continues in the centre of the tower without any particular difficulty. The return is very easy, involving just an abseil and a few minutes walking to the base of the route.
