Skasmeni Strounga is located at the head of the valley formed by the massifs of Gidovouni and Chomiriani. It is the source of the Evinos river, flanked by a magnificent fir forest, and features vast meadows that host sheepfolds and flocks. Βesides beautiful nature and easy access to Gidovouni, Plaka - Pyramida and Chomiriani, the area also offers an interesting bouldering site. This boulder site is completely unique for Greece both due to its elevation and the surrounding alpine terrain.
At “Strugen Pass”, the boulder site of Skasmeni Strougka, there are 33 known problems spread over 14 limestone boulders, with difficulties from 5B up to 7A+, 11 of which are open projects. The boulders which originate from landslides are of good quality, while the elevation, orientation, and forested subalpine location, form pleasant conditions during the summer and until early autumn.
Access
The approach to Skasmeni Strougka is possible from either Athanasios Diakos to the east, or from Artotina to the west, via a dirt road or the E4 trail.
The bouldering field is located on the right side of the dirt road between Skasmeni Strougka and towards Artotina, 400m after the wooden shed and among the visible landslip remains.
