The Petalouda crag is located at the northwestern end of the Charvati hill, south of the settlement of Porto Rafti. This crag was known in the past as “Markopoulo” and also as “Merenta”, but these two names do not correctly reflect its location. The Merenta hill (613m) is located to the west of the Charvati hill (413m) and is separated by a cultivable valley, through which the Myrrinountos road runs, while also Charvati is closer to Porto Rafti than to Markopoulo.
The main creator of the crag is Dionysis Stratigos who, in addition to opening the routes, cleaned and shaped the area.
The rock is limestone of very good quality with climbing mainly done on positive slabs and vertical sections.
The field has a southeast orientation and is in the sun from early in the morning. This makes it pleasant for climbing on sunny winter days, but prohibitive in summer due to the heat.
