Falakro - Chionotrypa

Rock, Traditional

In the foreground is the Chionotrypa cave and in the center is the Koryfi Tou Faragiou.

Chionotrypa (Snow Hole) is a cave about 110m deep, located at 2100m, a little lower than the peak of Falakro. It is essentially an ancient cave whose roof collapsed, and it got its name from the permanent snow at its bottom.

The climbing routes are not located inside it, but in the central part of the large horseshoe-shaped slope of Falakro, east of the Koryfi Tou Faragiou.

The routes are accessed from the entrance to the ski center parking lot, from where we ascend in a southwesterly direction towards the neck of Kartalka and from there to the Koryfi Tou Faragiou in 40min. To descend to the base of the crag, we make continuous rappels in the gully of the “Spilia tou thisavrou” route.
