Mount Poikilo is a low mountain (446m) in Attica. It extends 11 km in length, from northeast to southwest, forming, together with Mount Egaleo, the natural western wall of the Attica Basin.
The mountain is particularly burdened environmentally, since the vegetation that existed in earlier years (pine trees, vineyards and olive trees) has now disappeared due to the expansion of the settlements of Chaidari, Peristeri, Petroupoli and Kamatero but also due to the many and large quarries that provided the materials for these settlements. The installation of the Aspropyrgos Refineries at its western foothills as well as the telecommunications antennas on its ridge added a significant burden.
The “Zacharitsa” crag is located at the northern end of Poikilos Oros, in the Zofria neighborhood of the Municipality of Fyli.
Access is from Agamemnonos Street (perpendicular to Megalou Alexandrou Street), at the end of which there is a small parking area. From the parking area, we follow a path heading south, to the rocks.
The orientation of the crag, for routes from number 1 to number 11 is northeast, while from number 12 to number 14 it is west.
Suitable seasons for climbing are spring and autumn, but also in the summer from noon onwards.
The crag is suitable for beginner climbing schools and beginner climbers, while all routes have open relays.
