Mount Lailias is located 27km north of the city of Serres, in the Vrontou mountain range and is a magnificent location of exceptional natural beauty. It is a mountain complex with the highest peak, Profitis Ilias (1849m) and with 83% forest cover on its northern side, from a tall beech and pine forest, covering an area of 8000 acres.
The area is suitable for activities all year round. In winter, downhill or cross-country skiing and ice climbing, while in summer, cycling, multi-rope climbing and bouldering on granite rocks scattered throughout the forest.
The climbing areas on the south side of the mountain are divided into two large groups: those near the summit and are accessed from the ski resort, and those near the mountain refuge that are accessed in winter from trail No 2 that starts there, while in summer they are also accessible from the dirt road that we find 1km before the refuge and leads to the Chapel of the Ascension.
From the village of Oreini to the ski resort there are accommodations and taverns for all tastes and budgets. In summer there is the possibility of staying in a tent at the “Plateia ton Vlachon”, a lush green location at an altitude of approximately 1495m, in the Lailias forest, ideal for hiking, camping and contact with nature.
